April Showers

So the weather has gone from sunny and splendid to wintery cold and snowing!
What is going on!
So my outfits over the past weeks has really altered, I've gone from chiffon dresses to my wellies!

My first job the past week has been sending in my Playful Promises design.
Playful promises are a london based lingerie company in which i have entered a spring summer '13 competition. Please follow and Retweet my posts on twitter as i would love Playful Promises to know how much winning this competition would mean to me!

The design is a bodysuit, a burlesque inspired design, creating smooth lines and figures on any woman.
I personally hate having lumps and bumps in underwear so this suit streamlines the figure and has support in the right places with delicate sheer see through fabric for a sexy look!

design and description

my personal illustrations...

Moving on from my competition I have been shopping this week for the Vogue festival, i bought some beautiful items from Zara and ALDO...

 Leather tan sandals £70 ALDO
Bag from ALDO...chiffon trousers in snake print ZARA... Cotton peplum top ZARA
A trip to Harvey Nichols for a best friends birthday pressie, i purchased her a champagne manicure
My best buy a YSL box set with touché éclat, mascara and primer

Whilst shopping i had my eyebrows threaded, something I would definitely recommend!
The last photo here leads me to the next part of my blog, a review of the YSL make up i purchased from House of Fraser in Leeds.

beginning ... NO MAKE UP
before touche éclat and mascara... just wearing the YSL primer...

 With mascara
 with mascara and touché éclat
My finished make up!

What i have used:
BOBBI BROWN brushes, and lip colour
LAURA MERCIER foundation
MAC shimmer on eyes
YSL concealer, mascara and base primer

The best thing from the YSL set i got was not the mascara but the Primer!
The YSL secret primer is the best primer i have used, which is saying a lot as i normally pay a lot of money for the Chanel de blanc base from CHANEL. This new one makes your skin feel incredible! It also makes your make up look flawless and my make up has stayed on a lot longer and stayed on looking immaculate..
TOP TIP
Buy Yves Saint Laurent top secret PRIMER!

As for the mascara and the concealer, I loved them, i genuinely think you forget how good the YSL mascara is, i used to use and then have since experimented with many different companies. I think it is a very good reliable product if your not sure which mascara to buy, this one will not let you down!
The concealer i have really enjoyed wearing, i usually wear erase paste from benefit. Both products are great but in different ways, the erase paste certainly gets your moneys worth, I've had mine for months and the little pot looks like its still got a long life left!
However the YSL touché éclat that i can see running out quite quickly does set better on the skin and not leave you with any of the make up creases under your eye that you can get with heavier concealers.

Here are some extra pictures from my best friends birthday party, @lucymelvillex who was 20 on Tuesday...

I am wearing:
black dress form warehouse
jewellery from New Look

Roisin (left) is wearing:
Red dress from Rare at Topshop

Lucy (right) is wearing:

Make up by MAC Harvey Nichols Leeds

Brilliant week and now a busy week of working ahead...

Thank you,

Sunny Spring

One of my favourite designers is Vivienne Westwood.
I love her quirky handbags and shoes.
I have done a blog post with a felt green large bag from Vivienne Westwood one of my best buys...

I have been using this bag for the past 2 years...

it has stayed in perfect condition. It is still as sturdy as ever which is why i love it and use it so often.
it is green felt with black PVC handles. It has a graffiti like print on and came in orange and green.

The photo above was taken on the morning before i went to work.

I am wearing...
Bag - Vivienne Westwood
ZARA blazer - bought in Paris on sale
Fur collar - taken off a TOPSHOP coat
Blouse - Jack Wills
Sunglasses - Ray Bans

I have used the bag all weekend
This is my outfit for Saturday day when I saw family and wandered round markets with my mum

I am wearing...
Bag - Vivienne Westwood
Jeans - Jack Wills
Chelsea Boots - Primark
T-shirt - American Apparel
Leather Jacket - Harriets
Scarf - Charity Shop
Earrings - New Look

REVIEW: My review on this particular Vivienne Westwood bag is that it has kept its colour, print and strength for a long time and i carry a lot of things in it. I use it for uni, for work and for fun. The bags are worth the money due to the quality of them. I love the colour as it is bright and gives outfits a quirky look with a stand out bag as an accessory.

Thank you,

these photos give you guys a better look at every detail on ruths complex dress, the vision she obviously wanted from her shoot and the inspiration behind her dress...

next up is Demelsa Haughton's dress, a brilliantly talented designer with some of the most creative outfits I've ever seen...

This dress is stunning, intricate details of pearls, beading and individually sewn feathers onto a beautiful boned corset.
I can not wait to get the final shots for these!

And finally we have one excellent shot of Marina Yasins lace jumpsuit!

a brilliant shot here of the funky hippie style Marina has gone for in the shoot! The outfit looks fantastic with the white lace, bootleg trousers and flared sleeves!

Student Bridal Designer Awards

So today my colleague Ruth was modelling her wedding dress in a promotional shoot for RUJE sporting her lovely handmade 1970's inspired wedding dress...

This dress made it to the final 6 of the international bridal buyer awards for student bridal designer of the year...

This is a photo of Ruth at the bridal buyer awards with her dress.

The dress is made from beautiful peach chiffon, lace, duchess satin and carefully hand stitched beading.  Ruth organised a shoot with Joe Dodsworth professional photographer, where 3 dresses from the competition have been modelled by Ruth herself. Currently i am only promoting Ruths as the other pictures have not yet been edited.

This is a taster of the shots from today!

The final shots I will be blogging about hopefully by the weekend! I am eagerly awaiting the designers approval on the shots!

behind the scenes

these are amazing photos that were taken behind the scenes of the shoot.

I am really excited to get the photos from the other two dresses aswell, we have a dress from demelsa haughton made with a feather bodice, and a lace trouser suit from Marina Yasin.

A SNEAK PEEK AT ONE OF THE FINAL SHOTS...

This stunning 1970s inspired dress looks incredible on Ruth who has designed and made the dress herself.  A deserving finalist to the awards and I am proud to have her as my business partner! So excited to get some shoots together for RUJE.
